The KicknSurf site is dedicated to the art of surfing in some form or another. The word surfing known in the Hawaiian language as “he’enalu” is a sport that people from the around the world participate in for fun and exercise, some on a daily basis. Surfing is a way of life for numerous dedicated surfers and some go on to compete in surfing contests all over the world, anywhere there is water, waves, sand and sun! Historically, it is thought that riding waves has existed since people first took to swimming the oceans around the world. For catching waves, bodysurfing would be the oldest form of surfing through the waters. Surfboards are recent inventions the Polynesians developed, and modern surfing can be traced back to surfers from the Polynesian islands prior to contact in Hawaii.
